Encaustics

17 May 2015

I have been wanting to work with wax again for a while so I’ve been trying out some very small painting experiments in encaustics. Wax has a personal significance for me in that it resonates with a time in my childhood when I was happy – working on decorative pieces in batik with my mother. We’d often listen to a tape of Maria Callas. I remember it as a time when tension could be stilled, just for a while.

Apart from that I’ve sold 5 mono prints so I need to make more work as I will be taking part in Making Art Work’s Art Market in Maidstone in September.
